Doodles by DianetheKraus
Doodles
I don't know what kind of dog this is. One of those doodle-dogs, labradoodle or golden doodle or whatever. It is fluffy and cute, though.

Done for a client for the holidays. Nupastels and Conte on Canson paper.

Setting up Vanishing Points Tutorial by DianetheKraus
Setting up Vanishing Points Tutorial
Something that came up in the midst of Pencil King's Perspective Challenge - there's lots of resources out there on how to draw boxes and so forth but the basic setup of a perspective picture is a bit more mysterious.  In order to avoid distortion - usually, things looking "squished" because the vanishing points are too close together - you MUST put them fairly far apart. But HOW far apart?? This method solves that problem by working backwards to establish the cone of vision and from there find the station point and the minimum distance for the vanishing points.

If you're working on paper, you'll either need to draw small or tack on extra paper.

I wish I had learned this in the perspective classes I took. Way too much frustration with squished houses and furniture and stuff!

Gravity, Probably by DianetheKraus
Gravity, Probably
I haven't done a "long drawing" - drawing to actually produce a finished drawing - in a long time. This is sort of like getting back to my roots. I enjoyed it immensely.

I don't know what episode the screenshot was from, but the last couple times I saw the Doctor get the yo-yo out (i.e. Kill the Moon) it had to do with gravity. So.

Going to start actually knitting a scarf soon. =3

This is on 9"x12" paper, sketched in HB .5mm mechanical pencil and finished in 2B .5mm mechanical pencil.

Monday begins Pencil King's Perspective Drawing Challenge - a 4-week course in all the basics of perspective. There's 12 video lessons and daily exercises to help make it all make sense, and I'm coaching the whole darn thing.

You can sign up here for a small fee: www.perspectivedrawingchalleng…

If you've always wanted to learn perspective, this may just do the trick. =)

Wow what an amazing gallery! I really enjoy the variety of art and I especially love the World of Warcraft art. The one of Hathrien in particular has got to be one one of my favourite ever Blood elf fanarts!

Definitely keeping an eye open for more, and I love the tutorials!
